Case Study: personality-packed brand and website design for academic coach & tutor

When Kate, the amazing businesswoman behind EduKate Learning, came to me, she was sooooo ready for a change. Her DIY logo and website didn’t reflect her vibrant personality or the bold vision she had as a biology tutor and academic coach and it was holding her back from growing her dream business. She craved a brand that felt truly her - feminine, colourful, playful, and full of charm. Plus, her homemade website certainly wasn’t pulling its weight. Before I got started, it was clunky and boring, with little to no traffic.

Knowing Kate’s mission (and her busy life with two kids!), I was determined to create a brand identity and website that would help her build the booming business she dreamed of. We kicked off with my Brand Party Day service to craft a personality-packed identity, followed by a detailed six-week process to design a stunning, functional website. From our first call, it was clear we were a dream team—her passion matched my enthusiasm, and we couldn’t wait to get started!

designing a colourful, bold brand identity that appeals to parents & teens alike

To fit in with Kate’s busy lifestyle and help her make big brand moves quickly, we decided to focus on her brand over one intensive day using my Design Party Day service.

The plan was to use this Design Party Day to build a bold, colourful new brand from the ground up in just one day. I would then get all assets ready to use in a simple Canva document so that the new brand identity could be rolled out across social media immediately. I would then have everything I needed for the website design phase of the project.

Our Design Party Day had an active Zoom room, open all day so we could design, ideate and make decisions quickly. Keeping communication open this way makes sure these projects stay fun and high energy, as my clients can see the results in real time.

phase 1: Mood board sign off

We captured Kate’s fun, dynamic and bold vibe with a vibrant and modern design direction as captured in the moodboard shown here. Chatting it through, Kate felt it wasn’t feminine enough which gave me a great place to start when it came to the design phase.

phase 2: main logo design phase

After 30 minutes of discussing and ideating the perfect moodboard, I was ready to go with the logo design. I worked quickly to create a fun, feminine logo and submarks that would appeal to teens and parents alike.

Phase 3: building out branded extras

From stickers to scribbles, I packed Edukate’s branding with rich brand goodness. Everything was organised into a Canva-friendly brand board, making it easy for Kate to maintain her polished look across all platforms.

Phase 2: Designing a high-impact website with all of the features a busy tutor & academic coach could need

With Kate’s dreamy new branding in place, it was time to design a website using Kajabi that would wow her dream clients - both teens and parents alike!

Phase 1: website content prep

A few weeks before we got to work on the new website, Kate completed my website content form to ensure I had everything needed to deliver her perfect website.

Phase 2: Kajabi homepage design

We started with an engaging and value-packed homepage that perfectly captured her playful vibe and acted as a perfect signpost to her variety of educational services.

Phase 3: creating more website pages

Once the homepage was signed off and Kate was over the moon with it I carried on with the rest of the website. Pages like ‘About’, an online resource hub, in-depth contact pages and blog posts help to build a full-scale brand experience - so extra pages are essential.

Phase 4: brand and website support tools

Dedicated Loom training videos and 3 months of dedicated email support ensures Kate feels confident managing her new site on an ongoing basis.

The Results: A colourful Website That Feels Like well-organised business hub

Kate’s stunning new brand and website went above and beyond what she hoped she would be able to achieve. Kate saw improved interaction with her brand on socials, feels 100x more confident selling her brand and her services and was completely thrilled with the entire branding and website design process. Here’s what Kate had to say about our project:

"Naomi is a complete genius.

From the moment we met, I knew she just totally understood me and the values of my business. The end product blew me away, and was so much better even than my already high expectations.

Naomi created gorgeous, bold designs, that really reflected me and what I offer. She has injected a new-found confidence into me as a small business owner and I’m excited for what’s to come.

I cannot recommend Naomi highly enough."
