Create a Home Page Your Clients Love to Visit: 5 Simple Website Design Tips for a Magnetic User Experience

Have you ever clicked onto a website, only to bounce off within seconds? Maybe it felt cluttered, unclear, or maybe it just didn’t speak your language. Here’s the thing: your website is so much more than a digital business card—it’s your storefront, first date, and pitch meeting all rolled into one.

As a creative businesswoman, your homepage should work for you, not against you. It needs to connect with your dream clients and guide them effortlessly to a place where they’re excited to work with you. And what’s the secret? Designing a site that’s not just pretty but also easy and enjoyable to use.

After 14 years of crafting websites, I’m sharing five super-simple user experience tips that will help you create a homepage people love to visit—and buy from. Let’s get into it!

Tip 1: Make Your Purpose Crystal Clear - Right Away

Did you know it takes just 0.05 seconds for someone to form an opinion about your website? That’s right—less than a blink of an eye to decide if they’ll stay or click away to a competitor. Don’t let those precious milliseconds go to waste!

Your homepage banner (aka the hero section) is prime real estate. Use it to shout loud and clear:

  • Who you are

  • What you offer

  • Who you serve

For example, if you’re a brand photographer for small businesses, your hero section might say:
"Helping creative entrepreneurs grow their brand with stunning, authentic photography."

Pair it with a gorgeous image and a strong call-to-action like, “Let’s Make Magic Happen.” This way, the wrong audience quickly realises they’re not your ideal fit, while your dream clients feel like they’ve hit the jackpot.
